Meet some of Team EN members competing at Challenge Atlantic City 2014!
Ruth Ann Subach (F45-49)
Hi everyone! I’m Ruth Ann Subach, and this is my 4th season in triathlon. I’m doing the AquaBike at Challenge Atlantic City…My goal are simple: 1) Finish the swim in time, and 2) pace carefully and do my best on the bike.
My training this season is regretfully not what I had planned, however, I’ve had about a month of decent rides and swims leading into this. Like all of us, I WANT to finish, and will do my best! Hoping that the adrenaline of race day helps rather than hinders.
I’m racing for the Ironheart Racing Team, so look out for my blue/black helmet with the flying pig on it!
Robert Sabo (M50-54)
My name is Robert Sabo and this will be my 9th IM. This is a true home town race. The run course will be one block from my home. I had to do this inaugural race. Sleeping in my own bed for an IM.
I am a neurosurgeon/ spine surgeon who will we working up to the Friday before the race. My training has been slowed by recovery from a hamstring injury so I want to “enjoy” this IM. This is the odd “B” race IM. Looking forward to hosting the team down here in South Jersey and hoping this will be a successful race for years to come.
Howard Uniman (M55-59)
North Brunswick, NJ. Three years into Triathlons. First full distance. Prior to Tri’s I had 10 marathons under my belt. Then several years ago I saw a special on the Kona Ironman® and thought what a neat idea. I bought an entry level road bike, tried it out once around the neighborhood and then parked it my garage for 4 years. Finally, I said c’mon let’s get going on some triathlons. The next two years I did a bunch of sprint and Olympic distances and continued with the NYC Marathon.
With the inaugural Challenge AC practically in my own backyard I said what the heck, let’s go for the gold ring. Of course, my friends thought I was nuts but my great wife, Diane and two fabulous 20+ year old boys, Harry & Max understood and have cheered me on since that time and greatly supported my efforts and put up with the whining. Here we go!!
My goal the first time around is to finish and greet my family with an ecstatic smile! My trade is a lawyer, shh don’t hold that against me. I have had some very good coaches, a shout out to Thea and also support from the my friends at the Central Jersey Tri Club-thanks to all and of course to the wonderful training program and coaches/ staff at EN. THANKS!!
Carol DeFazio (F60-64)
From Little Silver, NJ. My hubby and I decided to do this Aquabike as a training day for our upcoming Ironman® Maryland. Also – we have a ton of friends doing this race and wanted to be there to cheer them to the finish line! So glad it’s really close by and looking forward to it. This race is one week after Mont Tremblant 70.3, so I don’t expect to set any records but I am looking forward to riding a flat course! Hopefully will be able to ride that far:-) It’s been a while!
Eric DePoto
Hey everyone, sorry I didn’t get to my bio in time. But I will see everyone at the dinner and I’ll tell you about me then. I am looking forward to meeting everyone!
