150 150 Coach P

As the sun rises over the red peaks surrounding Sand Hallow Reservoir the tension in the air is palpable and TeamEN will be there ready to show triathlete how race day execution is supposed to happen! Athletes file into the pristine water, the cannon is fired and they begin their 140.6-mile journey at Ironman® St. George.

Patrick Hayden

2012 St. George Race Co-Captain

Hello, I am Patrick Hayden (36) and live in St. Louis, MO. This will be my second full IM and my second year with EN. I have a wonderful wife (Charlotte) and two kids (Cassie and Tristan) who put up with my addiction to training. I have done a number of HIMs over the last three years. Last year I had a pretty good race at CDA and I am hoping to improve on it this year and use it as prep work for the Great Floridian later this year.

Carl Noftsger

2012 St. George Race Co-Captain

Carl Noftsger, 38 years of age.  I will be doing IM STG as my first Ironman.  I was scheduled to do IM WISC last year but was taken out two weeks prior to the race by another biker.  Long story short-ACL and MCL torn and I am back and ready to roll.  Will be arriving Thursday with with the best support crew a guy could ask for: My beautiful wife Alison, my son – Keegan and daughter -Olivia.

Never rode up the side of a mountain in my life-remember I live in Iowa and we have hills but really looking forward to the challenge.  I have been with EN for sometime now and ready to put the all this hard work and training to use.  Follow me along as I take on this monster and succeed.  Bib # 992 and can be tracked at MyAthlete.com.

See you at the finish line.

Julia Herrmann

I am Julia Herrmann, and this is my third ironman.  My first two were Arizona 2009 & 2010.  I am excited to see what this race brings.  I live in southern California, so I am the spoiled kind that gets to train year-round.   I have no time goals for this race – only to finish with as much grace as I can muster, making “the line” fall a good 6-10 feet past the finish line.  I am lucky to have three awesome Sherpa’s coming to this race with me (mom, dad, & boyfriend).   I am in love with this sport and looking forward to executing well on race day!!

Michele Cellai

44 yo Nurse Practitioner from Massachusetts. Racing triathlon for 18 years, long course since 2004. Actually started racing while living in Salt Lake City, so I know the beauty of the area. Re IMSG: I was terrified of the cold water and early season racing. Then, last year, I just decided that I would race it since it is the hardest IM in NA, and I already completed IMWI. Training indoors was very interesting. But I don’t think it was bad. This year I ride with my dad’s memory card. The race is just a few days shy of the 1 year anniversary of his unexpected death. The training has been wonderful to bring me peace and acceptance, despite the work of settling the estate and selling his home. St. George 2012! The last year of a full!

Stephanie Stevens

I’m Stephanie Stevens from Denver, Colorado and have been so lucky to be a part of Team EN for the past two seasons.  St. George will be my third IM race and I’m looking forward to just really enjoying the weekend.  I’m nursing an ITB injury and decided to do a shot of cortisone to help get me through the event.  I haven’t been able to run for weeks, so I am really hoping this is the magic bullet for me.  As a result, my goals for this race have definitely changed and I just really want to give it all that I have and enjoy the crowds and the day.  I have two sons, and they are usually my biggest supporters on the sidelines.  This weekend, however, one will be taking SAT tests and the other is playing in a LAX tournament, so I will need so extra shout-outs and encouragement on race day.  Looking forward to meeting everyone and giving some hive-fives on the run course!

Kit Bryan

Hi to all my EN teammates, I am Kit Bryan from Mystic, CT.  I am looking forward to my first IM in SG! In my regular life- I am a massage therapist for humans and animals in Westerly, Rhode Island – in my past lives, I competed in rodeos, competitive cycling, golf and was on the national team handball team.

Carrie Larson

My name is Carrie Larson and I am from Gypsum, CO.   St. George will be my 4th Ironman.  I have 3 boys, Finn (11), Luke (9), and Connor (7).  I work for an Eyewear company, teach TRX/Spin, and teach Nordic & Alpine Skiing in Vail/Beaver Creek .  My husband(TJ) and kids will be in St George to support me.   My last IM Arizona was my fastest at 12:20:46 and I have no expectations for this race. So if I see you on the course, I will most likely chat and get to know you.  I just want to enjoy that this is the last year for IMSG.  I also am doing this race because 2 of my friends Teri Cashmore and Stephanie Stevens are racing as well.  Go Girl Power!

Bill Wilson

My name is Bill Wilson and St. George will be my first full iron race.  I started with EN about 6 months ago and have been really pleased with my results, despite some scheduling issues that made it hard for me to keep up with the workouts.  Go team!

Eugene Gallagher

My name is Gene and I have lived in San Diego for the past seven  years.  I originally grew up in St. Louis, MO. I have been in the US  Navy for 8 years, which is what brought me to San Diego.  I found endurance sports in San Diego and have slowly become hooked.  Ironman St. George will be my third full IM (previous races Florida 2009, and  Arizona 2010). I have also raced other triathlons along with various running and cycling events. My training and racing schedule is dictated by my work schedule, which has fortunately been fairly predictable allowing me to complete these year long journeys to an Ironman. I have been on the Endurance Nation team since September 2011.  This is my first race after completing a full cycle of OS + IM training EN style. I have been trying to soak up as much racing knowledge as possible and I am eager to apply what I have learned. Thanks so much to the team – everyone has been very helpful on preparations to race.  Most of my support comes from my wife Laura, she is a fabulous supporter of my racing and training. My goals for IMSTG are to execute (not based on time) and to run a strong marathon which will be the validation of proper execution.

Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson 51 yrs old from Salina Kansas. This will be my 9th IM. Did Louisville the last 3 years. Planning on St. George (for the epic nature) and Arizona (for the PB) for 2012. Excited to race St. George since it’s considered the hardest course in North America. It’s been a challenge training in the winter and spring for St. George in KS. I did one of my two RR rides on a Trainer….ouch!!. Have swam and ran more than the EN plan calls for since my biking hours are less due to the weather and being on the trainer more than I would normally do. Even though this is my 9th IM, the course does make me alittle nervous.  Still waiting for a descent marathon in an IM (PB is 5:01) so thinking I can be 4:20 or so. If Im on that pace I pumped. Don’t know what the St. George bike will take out of my legs, but I’m ready to find out! Ready to go! Looking forward to meeting EN out there. I will be wearing the EN jersey so look for me.

Teri Cashmore

Hi my name is Teri Cashmore.  I am from Utah and am a stay at home mom of 3; Katelyn (9), Parker (5) and Carter (4).  My family is supportive and think I am crazy with all my training.  I love it though and wouldn’t change a thing, even if it means less sleep and getting up early to get in a workout before the chaos begins.  I did my first sprint tri in 1999 before jumping in feet first and signing up to do an ironman in 2000.  It was a great experience!  Once I finished I knew I wanted to do another one.  I didn’t do another tri until 2009.  Then again on a whim, I signed up do to another ironman in 2010.  Crazy!!!  With even less training this time around, the experience was just as memorable.  I caught the bug again and have been racing since then.  This will be IM #5.  I signed up for EN the beginning of the year after doing it on my own without a coach.  It has been so nice to have a season training plan and workouts all planned out.  Thank you EN!  I started off the season this year with a PR at Oceanside 70.3® and look to build on that success the rest of the year.  I know that if I can continue to get my nutrition dailed in, it will be a great year, as this has been an issue in the past.  I look forward to meeting everyone in St George!
